Certificate in Gold for BSU New Build in Hamburg

The new HQ for the BSU designed by the JV Sauerbruch Hutton/Reuter Rührgartner had already been acclaimed as an excellence project at the 2013 International Building Exhibition in Hamburg. The innovative office building consists of a 13-storey central tower and two five-storey wings. Besides offices for approx. 1 500 employees the building contains conference and exhibition areas, a library and a canteen.

On a gross floor area of approx. 61 000 m² a sustainable building concept was implemented with the utilisation of geothermal energy and passive house requirements, taking account of user comfort.  The OBERMEYER in-house Institute of Building and Energy Efficiency accompanied the integration of the certification requirements for the DGNB Certificate in Gold from the final design. In the course of the construction supervision particular importance was attached to the absence of hazardous substances in the materials employed.

When handing over the certificate at the Consense, Mr Tants, owner's representative from Sprinkenhof AG, particularly praised the fact the project was able to achieve all the ecological as well as economic objectives and that the office building was characterized by an especially high degree of user satisfaction.
