OBERMEYER China Won First Prizes on Urban Planning Projects

In the past few months, OBERMEYER China has won four first prizes in the international competitions for urban planning projects.

Chongqing East HSR Station Area
In cooperation with two national design institutes OBERMEYER won first prize in the international consulting competition of concept planning and core area detailed design of Chongqing-East Railway Station Area. With more than 30 million inhabitants, Chongqing is an important development hub in China's centre.
The design highlights a station-centered traffic organization using a Transit-Oriented-Development (TOD) model that embeds with the surrounding mountains.

Fuzhou Difengjiang District
OBERMEYER also won the international bid of urban design of Difengjiang District of Nantai-Island in Fuzhou and will be in charge of the urban design deepening work. With approx. 7 million inhabitants, Fuzhou is the capital of the Fujian Province on the east coast. Public space, convenient transportation, compound function, public activities and excellent architecture: a well-thought-out activation of these five core dimensions will create an urban space that supports a better and more sustainable life of the local people.

Fuyang West HSR Station Area
In the competition for urban design ideas and concept planning for the Fuyang-West Station, the transport hub area of Fuyang West Station of Hangzhou-Wenzhou high speed railway, the first prize winning core design of OBERMEYER was distinguished in particular by the design of the central locations: The focus here is not only on a well-functioning railway station, but also on a three-dimensional composite urban space that combines excellent urban public space, landscape embeddedness, a commercial service center and outdoor activities.

Zhuhai-Hengqin of the Integrated Development Area
With the completion of the 55 km long Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge in October 2018 and the proposal of the action plan for the Great Bay area, the so-called "Integration Area" near Zhuhai occupies a strategically important position in the cooperation of the involved provinces Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao.
OBERMEYER with its long-time partner of South China University of Technology won first prize of urban design international competition of the Integrated Area. The contract was extended to include also the task of further urban design guidelines. The design aims at coordinating regional spatial form and structure, strengthening the organic integration and interaction of urban spaces. In addition, a high-quality gateway area to the Greater Bay area will be created.
